17:1 When Jesus had finished saying these things, · he lifted up · his eyes to · heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your · Son so that your Son may glorify you,
17:2 since you have given him authority over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to all those you have given to him.
17:3 And this is · eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you sent.
17:4 I glorified you on · earth, having completed the task that you gave me to do;
17:5 and now, Father, glorify me at your side with the glory that I had with you before · the world began.
17:6 “I have made your name known · to the men whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept · your word.
17:7 Now they have come to know that everything that you have given me is from you;
17:8 for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them, and come to know in truth that I came forth from you, and they have believed that you sent me.
17:9 I am praying for them; I am not praying for the world, but for those whom you have given to me, for they are yours;
17:10 and all · mine are yours, and · yours are mine, and I have been glorified in them.
17:11 · I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am on my way to you. Holy Father, keep them in · your name, the name that you have given me, so that they may be one, just as we are one.
17:12 While I was with them, I protected them in · your name, which you have given me. · I guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the scripture might be fulfilled.
17:13 But now I am on my way to you, and I am saying these things while still in the world that they may have · my joy · made complete in themselves.
17:14 I have given them · your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.
17:15 I am not asking that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one.
17:16 They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.
17:17 Consecrate them by the truth; · your word · is truth.
17:18 As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
17:19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be consecrated by the truth.
17:20 “It is not only for these · that I am interceding, but also for those who will come to believe in me through · their word,
17:21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me and I am in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
17:22 And the glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one just as we are one,
17:23 I in them and you in me, that they may be completely one, so that the world may know that you sent me, and that you love them even as you love me.
17:24 Father, I desire that those also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, so they may see · my glory · that you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
17:25 Righteous Father, although the world does not know you, I · know you, and these men know that you sent me.
17:26 · I have made known to them · your name, and I will continue to make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
